Course Status

During the current winter period we have looked closely at our existing policy regarding Course Status (opening and closing of the course), and this has resulted in a decision to introduce some playing options between the period when the course is closed until the time it is open when there are no playing restrictions.

With the need to communicate clearly about winter course conditions, and any restrictions regarding play on the course, we will now operate a simple colour coded policy to advise players of the current Course Status.

During the winter period the chances of damage to turf is high, and recovery will not start until spring time. By helping to limit the damage to the plant, it will be much healthier when it comes to the start of the growing season. The benefits to the course speak for themselves.

You can all play a part in limiting the damage caused by playing during the winter time and your support is greatly appreciated. We understand that there are many physical restrictions regarding players carrying clubs, however a light pencil bag with 5 clubs is worth considering. Even when using a trolley, lighten your load if at all possible, and be aware of roped off areas, keeping clear from worn or muddy patches. Please consider the use of a portable playing mat (see video below), which will greatly reduce damage made from playing the shot itself. They will be available to purchase at cost price from reception.

We will refer to the ‘colour’ of the current Course Status through the recorded course information message, the website and a sign at the entrance to the clubhouse. You can also download and print the colour coded course status guide to keep handy at home.
