Stratford Oaks enjoys a reputation for being a friendly club and this is especially true of the Ladies’ Section which has a thriving membership of well over a hundred ladies. We aim to give new members a warm welcome whether they are experienced players or new to the game and we are able to integrate them into the Section in a number of ways. Competitions are drawn weekly with a view to varying playing partners, a mentoring system is in place for anyone wishing to learn the ropes and there is a long list of ladies who are willing to be called on for a game.
Wednesday is the Main Day for our competitions when there is either an 18 hole Medal or Stableford competition and also a weekly 9 hole Stableford. For those who are unable to play in the week, we hold an Alternative Competition Day on either a Saturday or Sunday. Ladies who are gaining their Handicap Index are encouraged to play immediately after the Main Day competitions so they can quickly get to know others, socially, in the Clubhouse.
Stratford Oaks has recently been awarded the prestigious Women in Golf Charter, a status conferred by the R&A through England Golf which sets out to distinguish us as a club which holds paramount the interests, ambitions and conditions for women in the world of golf.
There is much more besides, brought about by an active and knowledgeable Committee committed to providing a full programme of inclusive golfing events.

The Seniors Section, known as the SOAKS, is a very active group for those aged 55 and above within the Men’s membership of Stratford Oaks.
The maxim of the SOAKS is enjoyable and friendly golf …and plenty of it.
We welcome players of all abilities. Reserved tee times every Tuesday mornings for a combination of both Medal and Stableford competitions staged on a monthly basis during the summer, as well as a smaller programme of events in the winter, together with some friendly individual and team competitions.
To be eligible to play in the Senior section you pay a small annual entry fee (directly to the section) to cover all monthly competitions (pro rata arrangements for those joining during the year).
Many Seniors also book tee times on Thursday mornings where occasional informal fun event might be played. As with the other sections of the club we hold our own Captain’s Day, Invitation Day and Away Day.
Tuesday tee times Competitions are selected by the Competition Secretary so new members will have the opportunity to meet, get to know and play alongside existing members on any of our Tuesday events.
We have about 100 members who support our varied fixtures and numerous competitions and up to 24 friendly matches against other clubs played throughout the year. Games are more often than not, followed up with a drink at the bar or maybe some lunch.
